Great news–latest MRI shows no changes.

Thanks be to God in Christ Jesus and to you for all your prayers through the years.

Bumpa’s Perfect Ten

July 15, 2017

On July 12 our Little Sweetie turned 10.

Thanks be to God in Christ Jesus!

And thanks to all of you who have been with us in this miraculous journey.

Alexa’s MRI

September 16, 2015

Not the best news on Alexa today. The spots on her brain have grown enough to warrant concern. There was also evidence of significant swelling and scarring in the area from where the previous tumor was removed and radiated. The oncology team at Primary Children’s Hospital in SLC will study and confer and next Tuesday are supposed to tell us more about the situation and how they would like to proceed.

That said they are amazed at how well Alexa is doing and how little effect everything seems to have had on her life and function so far. She is considered to be something of a little miracle girl.

Donna and I, having moved to the southwest corner of KS where I was called to serve the saints at Christ Lutheran Church-Elkhart and Faith Lutheran Church-Hugoton this past February, were blessed to be able to visit and have our Little Sweetie and her little brother, Kaden, spend the week with us while on vacation in Utah last month.

Thanks be to God in Christ Jesus!

And to you for your love and prayers.

Out, Damned Spots!

August 4, 2014

Out, damned spot! out, I say! One; two: why, then, ’tis time to do ’t.

Not good news. Alexa’s MRI today showed the spots have grown (I’m not sure yet how much) and are not in a good place–inside rather than on the brain.

She doesn’t seem to be presenting any symptoms yet, though she does seem to me to tire more easily of late.

The staff at Primary Children’s will consult and maybe do another, more comprehensive MRI to get exact measurements and such later to determine the course of treatment from here.

Going Forward

March 14, 2014

AlexaCloseupAlexa’s oncology team is going to use the MRI of two weeks ago as a baseline, monitor it every three months for now to see how it is (or hopefully, isn’t) growing, and treat it accordingly.

Lord, God, have mercy on your little children for Jesus sake.

It’s Back

March 1, 2014

Well, Thursday’s MRI showed two small spots that were not there at her last MRI in October. One was so small they missed it at first. But it looks like that nasty cancer is back.
It's Back
We don’t know yet what this all means as far as treatment or anything. She is scheduled for an EEG on Monday to help the oncology team determine what needs to be done going forward.

What I do know is that Alexa and her family could use and would deeply appreciate it if you would include her and us in your prayers as we head into Lent and the Cross and Resurrection of our Lord, in whom we trust and who promises to never leave us or forsake us.

“Be strong and courageous, … It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:7-8

Our Father in heaven, keep your dear child, Alexa, safe in your loving care. Let your holy angel be with her and guide the ministrations of the doctors as they tend to her physical needs even as you already have settled her eternal needs in your Son, Christ Jesus, our Great Physician.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1
